As long-term supporters of CMHA Calgary, financial management firms Sagium and Kinsted Wealth are taking additional steps to support the mental health and wellness of youth.

This year, Sagium and Kinsted are generously sponsoring our YouthSMART website. CMHA Calgary’s YouthSMART is a youth-focused mental health website that includes information for youth dealing with mental health and wellness concerns.

Opportunity For Youth

Ashley Lamantia, Education Lead for CMHA Calgary says the generous contribution will provide the ability to expand and create more valuable content onto the YouthSMART website.

“CMHA Calgary’s Youth Education programming will be drastically enhanced by improvements to youthsmart.ca. The website aims to provide young people with comprehensive online resources that extend beyond CMHA’s popular learning sessions on mental health topics and provides easy, anytime access to reliable materials. Through Sagium and Kinsted’s generous support, we expect to see even more youth accessing our website, as we create new online learning opportunities.”

The push for youth mental health awareness is a community pillar that Sagium and Kinsted have been supporting and advocating for many years.

Sagium founding partner and wealth strategist Rick Green believes youth should not be deprived of life-saving information.

“Youth has always been important to us. We always want to make sure that everyone has a fair shot at life and a good time to catch people is when they’re young.”

The phrase “living is for giving” is a Sagium and Kinsted statement Green and his firm wholeheartedly follow and believe in as a community support for YouthSMART and several other youth-based organizations in the city including United Way, University of Calgary Dino’s basketball team and Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids.

“We are so fortunate to have an incredible sponsor like Sagium and Kinsted supporting our youth education.”

Ashley Lamantia | CMHA Calgary YouthSMART

Green’s best piece of advice for youth struggling with mental health and wellness is to try their best to not dwell on past mistakes and focus on moving forward no matter what.

“It’s perseverance. We feel very strongly about having good people around you to help you through [bad times]. No one can do it on their own.”

Giving Hope To Youth During Unprecedented Times

With some youth back in physical classrooms and others learning from online delivery at home, every one of them is someway restricted in their interactions with friends, classmates, teachers, teammates, bandmates, etc.

Even though it is a temporary situation, these factors can cause physical, emotional and mental impacts.

By developing youth-centric programming, the YouthSMART platform will be a key resource for educators to guide their students if they are expressing mental health concerns.

“As young people deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sagium and Kinsted’s support will allow YouthSMART.ca to become an even more powerful learning tool,” Lamantia says.

“We want to continue to have a long-term connection with youth and know that we’re able to do something to make an impact. To see the progress of kids, the program growing and what it’s doing for the committee are great things for us to see on our end.”

In addition to the partnership, Lamantia believes Sagium and Kinsted can become a resource for youth wanting a better understanding of the financial role that will soon play a part in their own lives.

“We hope that youth and families who access the site will also engage with Sagium and Kinsted’s services, and recognize that our personal wealth and finances have a significant impact on our overall wellness, right from early adolescence.”
